Following the Cross-Prayer

16 March, 2025

To “follow the cross” means a daily commitment to self-denial and service, mirroring Christ’s sacrifice . Prayer is essential for this path, providing strength and guidance through communication with God.

Matthew 6:5-8 teaches us to pray privately and sincerely, not for show, and to avoid empty repetition, trusting that God knows our needs . James 4:8 urges us to draw near to God with a pure heart and undivided loyalty, promising that He will respond to our sincerity .

Matthew 7:7-8 encourages persistent prayer, assuring us that if we ask, seek, and knock, God will respond .

Finally, 2 Chronicles 7:12 reminds us that God hears our prayers and chooses to be present with those who worship Him . Therefore, “following the cross” and prayer are deeply connected. A life of sacrifice is sustained by sincere and persistent prayer, while a dedicated prayer life empowers us to live out the commitment of following Christ.
